You were together when you started to run... You vaguely knew where to go to... You knew how to help father in the fields and care for the animals. The men were killed... you were not so you all ran just to find somewherre safe. You lost sight of family, of folk from the village.
You heard folk from your village were staying in an Internally Displaced People's Camp, you went there. No family... Because you are under age, no one cared for you or gave you food, you were chased or beaten...
Your vulnerability was noted and you were brought to Abraham's Oasis, food, beds, washing facilities, even 'foosball, and Ping Pong! Others just like you... Even classes, chats with counsellors and large space like 'home'. Fair assignments given and shared.
You saw families come and look for their children, your heart was broken every time another child left. Then one day, Dad shouted through the fence "Is my boy therre?" You knew that voice - Dad! Oh sweet reunion!
The children come and go and we remain there to help them channel through their feelings and keep them busy enough so as not to allow the deep trauma to overcome them.
