Summary

Children Scientists transforms schoolkids in 28 schools into forests guardians. These children will support the department by sharing their reports with the meteorogical survey data reports systems. through and monitoring data on oils and water, making planting and caring for forest seedlings and sharing their discoveries with their families and guardians. Our generation to understand and care for the forests that shelter biodiversity protect water resources and help regulate our climate.

Challenge

Malawi's one of the top biodiversity hotspots forests is place of extraodinary beauty and a treasure house of endangered and endemic species. The traditinal view of forests as a resource to be exploited has ed to a severe reduction in forest cover pushing away some species while unsustainabe farmig has led to soil erosion, pressure on water resources and vicious cycle of rural poverty.

Solution

Chinseu children scientists will support the meteorogical servey make tree seedlings planting care for young trees track changes in forest cover and water quality, share the results with their families and promote new ways of conservation farming that brings money to poor farmers. The school kids collect data for the meteorogical which produces featuring forest cover, water resources, land use in a way that is instantly attractive and understandable to students and their families, guardians.

Long-Term Impact

As the fate of the forests affects everyone our chidren scientists programe inspires and equips 270 scholkids with the tools they need to understand the connectio between restoring forests, protecting soil and water and living better. Through developing raising a new breed of forests guardians to value and care for the forests on which our future depends.
