Har Gali. Har Maidan – Celebrating the Spirit of National Sports Day

Teamwork, inclusiveness, fitness, and fair play – that is the true spirit of National Sports Day, celebrated across India with great enthusiasm. This year, the nationwide call was to pledge “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein” (One Hour on the Playground), encouraging people of all ages to take part in physical activities, rediscover the joy of play, and strengthen the culture of sports.

From August 29–31, the 3-day mega celebration reached every street and every playground, inspiring communities to come together in the name of health, unity, and sportsmanship.

At Janani Home for Girls, we proudly joined this movement. Our girls enthusiastically participated in a range of fun-filled sports and fitness activities, embracing not just competition but also the values of discipline, cooperation, and mutual respect. For many of them, this was more than just play—it was a chance to feel empowered, included, and motivated to build healthy habits for life.

Games such as running races, team relays, throwball, and traditional Indian games were organized to ensure that every child could take part, regardless of age or skill level. The playground echoed with laughter, cheering, and words of encouragement, truly reflecting the spirit of Har Gali, Har Maidan.

The celebration was also a reminder of the importance of sports in shaping character, building confidence, and creating bonds that go beyond the playing field. It gave our girls the opportunity to interact, collaborate, and discover their hidden strengths—helping them realize that teamwork and perseverance are as valuable in life as they are in sports.
