Christmas Project Report

By Ijeoma Ezeagwula | Project Leader

Thank you for supporting our 2022 Christmas programs.

With your generosity and support, the year ended on a merry and joyful note. Despite the economic challenges and rising inflation in Nigeria, CCI was able to serve our community and bring joy to the families and the community.

As you already know, CCI is a community-based organization.  Although our focus is education, at holiday times we also support the welfare of our families to help keep children at home and safe. Last Christmas, we carried out the following community impact projects:

Food Distribution for Families:

We distributed boxes of non-perishable food items and chicken to over 104 families in our slum community. The boxes contained a variety of groceries that were enough to prepare several meals, depending on family size. The most beautiful part was the joy mothers felt, being able to cook and put homemade meals on the table for their children during the Christmas season and the positive impact on the self-esteem of children, having the opportunity to eat food prepared at home with their families. This is a big feat because many families reported that it had been a while since they could afford basic groceries.

Christmas Gifts for Children:  CCI also gave out wrapped Christmas presents (toys) to 200 children in our slum community. For a vast majority of these children, Christmas gifts are a luxury. They have never received a Christmas gift and they have never owned a toy as their parents could barely afford basic food let alone have enough to buy gifts for their children. To add to the joy, “Santa” personally delivered the gift to each child, an experience they never had.

The joy of Christmas should never be just for a few. Everyone deserves to experience the joy of the holiday, irrespective of their background.

Your generous support has enabled our children and their families experience Christmas in a different and happy way.

Thank You!
