November 2022 - a magnitude 5.6 earthquake devastated Cianjur, Indonesia. At least 602 deceased and tens of thousands injured, while hundreds of thousands displaced. It has been more than five months but their lives have still not recovered. The majority of them lost their source of income. Children are missing school. ASAR Humanity is working with stakeholder pushing through post-disaster programs. Building shelters, WASH facilities, temporary schools, and providing people empowerment programs.
The devastating earthquake destroyed houses, schools, farming fields, stores, worship buildings, public infrastructure, including the waterline of the community. Basically they are losing their essential facilities to carry on their lives. The majority of them who were farmers and sellers lost their source of income. Children are missing school. Their livelihood is paralyzed.
To build an integrated public housing that covers temporary shelters, WASH areas, temporary schools, worship areas, and merchant centers. The goal is to provide a decent, safe, healthy living area. Building a temporary school to keep children get their rights for education. Especially the special-needs children. Provide the adults the capital, also the farming and entrepreneur mentorship, until they obtain a crop. The income will be divided into the next farming season and to cater daily needs.
With decent housing, the residents will have no worries to carry on their lives. Empowerment programs will support them to restart their source of income. They will continue to work on their ability to improve their economy and to be financially independent. Children will be having to continue their education. Equip them with skills, so they will get a better future.
