FROM TRAINING TO ENTERPRISE: WOMEN CREATING IMPACT

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

The journey from training to entrepreneurship is transforming the lives of women participating in our clean cooking project in Eastern Uganda. This reporting period highlighted the remarkable progress women are making as they apply newly acquired skills to improve their households and communities.

Participants attended intensive training sessions focused on constructing improved cookstoves from locally available materials. These stoves offer a practical solution to common challenges faced by rural households, including excessive firewood consumption, indoor smoke pollution, and inefficient cooking methods. Families adopting the stoves are experiencing healthier and more cost-effective cooking practices.

A major focus of the project has been supporting women to become entrepreneurs. Through business development training, participants learned how to identify market opportunities, manage finances, and effectively promote their products. Many women are now producing and selling cookstoves, creating sustainable income sources that contribute to household financial security.

Community awareness activities have further expanded the project's impact. Educational campaigns have informed families about the benefits of clean cooking technologies and encouraged greater adoption of fuel-efficient stoves. These efforts are helping create healthier homes while reducing pressure on local forests.

The success of this initiative demonstrates the power of combining skills development with economic opportunity. Women are not only improving their own livelihoods but are also driving positive social and environmental change within their communities.

We thank our generous donors for supporting this important work. Your contributions are helping women turn knowledge into enterprise and create lasting impact for families throughout Eastern Uganda.
