We are pleased to share significant progress from our clean cooking and women’s economic empowerment initiative in Eastern Uganda. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, rural women have begun acquiring practical skills to construct and use improved cookstoves made from locally available materials.
During this reporting period, participating women received hands-on training in stove production, installation, and maintenance. The improved cookstoves are designed to reduce indoor air pollution, consume up to 50% less firewood, and increase cooking efficiency. As a result, families are spending less time and money collecting or purchasing fuel while benefiting from healthier cooking environments.
In addition to technical skills, women participated in entrepreneurship and business management training to help them establish sustainable income-generating activities through the production and sale of improved cookstoves. Several trainees have already started reaching households within their communities, creating new opportunities for economic independence and leadership.
Community awareness campaigns have also been conducted to educate families about the health, environmental, and economic benefits of adopting clean cooking technologies. These outreach efforts have generated growing interest among local households and community leaders, encouraging wider acceptance of improved cookstoves.
The project is contributing to reduced exposure to harmful smoke, decreased pressure on local forests through lower firewood consumption, and improved livelihoods for women and their families. Moving forward, we aim to expand training opportunities, increase community outreach, and support more women entrepreneurs to meet the rising demand for clean cooking solutions.
We are deeply grateful for your continued support in helping create healthier homes, stronger communities, and a more sustainable future for rural families in Uganda.
