Women in Eastern Uganda are becoming powerful agents of change through our clean cooking initiative. During this reporting period, participants received hands-on training in the construction and use of improved cookstoves made from locally sourced materials. The training equipped women with practical skills that not only improve household cooking conditions but also create opportunities for economic empowerment.
Traditional cooking methods often expose women and children to harmful smoke while requiring large amounts of firewood. The improved cookstoves introduced through this project reduce smoke emissions and use significantly less fuel, helping families save both time and money. Women have reported spending fewer hours collecting firewood, allowing them to focus on income-generating activities, childcare, and community engagement.
Entrepreneurship training has further strengthened participants' ability to earn sustainable incomes. Women learned business management, pricing, customer relations, and marketing techniques that enable them to establish small enterprises around cookstove production and sales. As demand for clean cooking solutions continues to grow, many participants are emerging as local leaders promoting healthier and more environmentally friendly practices.
Community sensitization activities have played a vital role in increasing awareness of the benefits of improved cookstoves. Households are embracing cleaner cooking methods that contribute to better health outcomes and reduced pressure on local forests.
We are deeply grateful to our supporters whose generosity is empowering women to lead the clean energy revolution while creating lasting benefits for families and communities across Eastern Uganda.
