CLEAN COOKING SOLUTIONS BRINGING LASTING CHANGE

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

The introduction of clean cooking technologies is creating lasting change for women and families across Eastern Uganda. During this reporting period, our project continued to equip rural women with the skills needed to build improved cookstoves that promote healthier homes and sustainable livelihoods.

Participants completed hands-on training in stove construction, installation, and maintenance. Using locally sourced materials, women learned how to produce affordable cookstoves that reduce smoke emissions and require substantially less firewood. These improvements are helping households save money while creating safer cooking environments for women and children.

In addition to technical skills, women received entrepreneurship training designed to strengthen their economic opportunities. Topics included financial management, business planning, product promotion, and customer engagement. As a result, many participants are confidently producing and marketing cookstoves within their communities, generating income and increasing their financial independence.

Community education campaigns have continued to raise awareness about the benefits of clean cooking. Families are learning how improved cookstoves can reduce respiratory illnesses, save valuable time, and contribute to environmental conservation. The growing demand for these solutions demonstrates the increasing recognition of their value.

The project is producing positive outcomes that extend beyond individual households. Reduced firewood consumption helps protect local forests, while women entrepreneurs are becoming important advocates for sustainable development.

We appreciate the generosity of our donors whose support is making this work possible. Your contributions are helping communities embrace cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable ways of living for generations to come.
