This project will provide clean drinking water for the underprivileged population across remote areas of Pakistan, benefitting an estimated 1.5 to 2 million people, and in turn will contribute to their health and wellbeing.
In Pakistan, more than 22 Million people are deprived of clean drinking water. Due to this, more than 54,000 children under 5 years of age lose their lives every year, in addition to a large number of people being afflicted by health hazards. This is because contaminated water causes avoidable diseases which are life threatening. Additionally, many remote areas in Pakistan do not have electricity, so water extraction from underground sources becomes a challenge
Through this project, we will provide access to clean drinking water to underprivileged populations, through various means: - Hand Pump installation in areas with fresh water sources on ground - Digging wells for water extraction in areas with no water bodies - Water filtration units and water coolers - Solar powered water extraction and filtration units for areas without electricity
This project will provide clean drinking water to about 2 million people, which will promote good health and reduce the incidence of life threatening diseases. Good health will promote productivity and better quality of life, and reduce the burden on the already overloaded healthcare system of Pakistan.
