End of water fetch at Bourbo school
To enable students and parents to consume drinking water and considerably reduce diseases linked to the consumption of non-potable water, Global NEEED Burkina carried out, during the year 2018, a borehole equipped with a motorized pump human within the Bourbo school. Bourbo is a village located 14 km from Ouahigouya in the province of Yatenga. The Global NEEED team took the opportunity to raise awareness among beneficiaries on the maintenance and efficient management of the drinking water point.
Global NEEED Burkina urged them to initiate monthly contributions. The financial resources thus generated will be used for periodic maintenance of the structure. They therefore become independent and do not need external financial resources in the event of a possible need to repair the water point.

A borehole for Thiou High School

Thiou is a rural commune located about forty kilometers north of Ouahigouya.
In order to improve the working and living conditions of the teachers and students, Global NEEED Burkina built and equipped a high school for the benefit of the locality. Also, a borehole was built to make drinking water available, relieve the suffering of the population in general and especially students and teachers.
The Lycée is located on the outskirts of the city of Thiou. Students were forced to travel nearly four kilometers back and forth to find clean water. This disrupted pedagogical activities, classes. Otherwise, they were forced to consume dirty water from wells around the school. Students could then contract waterborne diseases.
The drilling in the Lycée is a real relief for all students, teachers and even local populations.

Drinking water for the Talle-Bouli primary school

The Tallé-Bouli school did not have a borehole, pupils and teachers got their water from a well located near the school. The well is neither clean nor protected. Dust and debris carried by the winds poured into it.
One day, the students went to fetch water. Unfortunately an 8 year old student slipped and fell down the well. Alerted by the cries and screams of children, teachers and parents came running. A parent descended into the well using a rope and was able to save the child who was only slightly injured. Luckily, there wasn't much water in the well. Since that day, they have decided to plug this well and seek funding for the construction of a modern borehole.
It is for this reason that they approached Global NEEED Burkina who agreed to drill a modern borehole in the village. This borehole was drilled to allow the school's 362 students and teachers to have drinking water nearby and available for consumption at all times.
Also the painful chores of water and the diseases of water origins are largely reduced. This action by Global NEEED Burkina allows students to be in good health and regularly attend classes. It is also allowed for villagers who live near the school to also get water from this well.
