Water plays an important role in Burkina Faso, a Sahelian country facing major challenges related to drought, climate change, and demographic pressure due to population displacement to urban centers.
The need for water is growing during this period of intense heat. Students are struggling to access drinking water, as are teachers.
It is in this context that, at the request of the principal and the management committee of the Oufre D school, Global NEEED Burkina, with the help of its partners and various donations, has set up a water point, a hand-powered borehole for the benefit of students, teachers, and even local residents. The need was so pressing that Global NEEED, after consulting with the education authorities and the Ouahigouya municipality, proceeded with the delivery of the well to the beneficiaries earlier than planned.
It was therefore in a positive atmosphere that the official handover of the well to the school principal took place.
