Clean water for 11 970 students in Burkina Faso

I am the principal of a school located about 22 kilometers from Ouahigouya. Today, I feel immense joy seeing the students of my school and the surrounding communities happy thanks to the availability of a drinking water source.

As part of efforts to improve learning and hygiene conditions at our school, a well was drilled thanks to the support of Global NEEED Burkina and its partners. Before this intervention, access to drinking water was a major challenge for both students and teachers. Children often had to travel long distances to fetch water, which disrupted school activities and increased student fatigue.

The installation of this well has significantly improved school life. Students and teachers now have permanent access to clean drinking water, which has significantly improved hygiene, health, and well-being within the school.

This infrastructure also facilitates sanitation activities, including handwashing, classroom cleaning, and the maintenance of a school garden on the school grounds. Furthermore, the availability of water contributes to increased school attendance and provides a more conducive learning environment for students.
