Project Report
Project Title: Clean Water Sadaqah Jariyah
Location: Northern Syria Displacement Camps (including Idlib and surrounding areas)
---
1. Project Overview
The “Clean Water Sadaqah Jariyah” project was implemented in displacement camps across northern Syria to address the urgent need for safe and clean drinking water. Ongoing conflict and displacement have severely damaged water infrastructure, leaving thousands of families without reliable access to potable water. This project aims to provide sustainable water solutions as a form of continuous charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), benefiting communities over the long term.
---
2. Objectives
To provide safe and clean drinking water to displaced families.
To reduce the spread of waterborne diseases.
To establish sustainable water sources that serve communities continuously.
To improve overall hygiene and living conditions in the camps.
---
3. Target Beneficiaries
The project targeted:
Internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in camps.
Women and children, who are most affected by lack of water access.
Vulnerable families with limited or no income.
A total of 250 families (approximately 1000 individuals) benefited directly from this project.
---
4. Implementation Activities
Needs Assessment: Field teams conducted site visits to identify camps with the most critical water shortages.
Water Source Development: Installation of water wells and/or rehabilitation of existing water points where feasible.
Water Trucking: Regular delivery of clean water to camps lacking infrastructure.
Storage Solutions: Distribution and installation of water tanks to ensure safe storage.
Quality Control: Regular testing of water to ensure it meets health and safety standards.
---
5. Outcomes and Impact
Improved access to safe drinking water for hundreds of displaced families.
Reduction in waterborne diseases and related health risks.
Decreased burden on women and children who previously traveled long distances to fetch water.
Enhanced hygiene practices within the camps.
---
6. Challenges
Security and access constraints in certain camps.
High operational costs, especially for water transportation.
Increasing demand due to continuous displacement.
Despite these challenges, the project was successfully implemented and reached the targeted beneficiaries.
---
7. Sustainability
As a Sadaqah Jariyah initiative, efforts were made to ensure long-term impact through:
Durable infrastructure such as water tanks and wells.
Community involvement in maintenance and monitoring.
Ongoing assessment to ensure continuity of water supply.
---
8. Conclusion
The “Clean Water Sadaqah Jariyah” project has significantly improved the living conditions of displaced families in northern Syria by ensuring access to one of life’s most essential needs—clean water. This initiative not only provides immediate relief but also creates a lasting positive impact for the community.
---
9. Recommendations
Expand the project to additional camps facing severe water shortages.
Invest in more sustainable water systems such as solar-powered wells.
Strengthen partnerships to ensure long-term funding and support.
