Big waves of gratitude...and 2024 outlook

By Kurt Lieber | Founder and President

This is why we do what we do! Monk seal...

Seriously – big waves of gratitude are coming your way! We wanted to shout it from the seashore: WE COULD NOT DO THIS OCEAN CLEANUP WORK WITHOUT YOU.

With your support “fueling” us, in 2023 we broke two of our own ocean debris-removal records.

Your cleanup crews have been busy:

  • Removed over 88,500 feet of abandoned fishing line.
  • Conducted 68 cleanups – which is almost 6 cleanups a month!

Good news on expansion:

  • We’ve added 16 new debris sites to our list of ocean cleanup locations:
  • 7 in California and 9 in Hawai’i.

I hope you can see that your support enables us to continue this work we both believe is important: ensuring clean oceans and safe passage for the creatures that inhabit them. Because of you, the seas are a little less cluttered, the marine habitat a bit cleaner, and the animals that swim in our waters are freer from the threats of human-made debris.

More good news: ODA cleanup crews keep growing in number which is a good thing because we have a lot of debris sites to visit in 2024!

We sincerely THANK YOU for “being there” with us. You keep the wind in our sails propelling us forward!

I hope 2024 is a wonderful, healthy, and safe year for you and yours.

With deep gratitude,
Kurt
