The funds that Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN) received on the GlobalGiving site were incredibly impactful, as we continued to equip people across the US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands with the tools they need to stay safe during a climate disaster. For example, MCN offered a training in Puerto Rico on worker health and safety during emergencies. We trained community outreach health workers who then can train their communities. During one training, a community outreach health worker told us about how one group that he was training had already encountered terrifying landslides while trying to clean up after a hurricane. It was a miracle that no had been injured or killed, the workers had reported to him – showing how critical these types of trainings are. Now, the community outreach health worker was able to provide those very trainings, thanks to your contribution -- trainings that are rooted in inclusivity, to mobilize the community, to build climate resilience with the workers who need it the most. Here’s what he said (translated/edited from Spanish):
“We received very positive feedback from the different groups that we were able to train, so much so, that they have requested trainings in other topics!” -Community Outreach Health Worker, Puerto Rico
