Migrant Clinicians Network (MCN) continues its efforts to support communities across the US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands to prepare, respond and recover from climate-related emergencies. We recognize the essential role of clinicians in promoting community preparedness, particularly those working in high-risk industries, farmworkers and construction workers.
To help support clinicians, MCNcollaborated with the National Academy of Medicine Climate Communities Network, in their virtual convening to spotlight actionable steps for implementing data-driven policies that reduce heat-related adverse health outcomes and equipattendees with practical tools to inform communities. In this instance, MCN shared resources and best practices for protecting workers from extreme heat with special attention to heat events after hurricanes.
Additionally, MCN continues to share best practices and lessons learned with partners and stakeholders in the East Coast Region and the Caribbean. We presented the lessons learned of recent disasters in the region with emphasis on heat and flooding during recovery processes. Finally, we promoted awareness during the start of hurricane season through social media posts sharing our resources and promoting preparedness among our constituents.
