INTRODUCTION
Hygiene and sanitation are a critical component of a healthy and safe environment for school going children. They play a vital role of preventing the spread of diseases and promoting overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, many poor schools lack access to proper hygiene and sanitation facilities like toilets. This report highlights the need for improved hygiene and sanitation in poor schools and the impact that such improvements can have on the health and well-being of students.
SANITATION ISSUES
One of the most pressing sanitation issues in poor schools within East Pokot is the lack of toilets and latrines, which can lead to unsanitary conditions and poor hygiene. To address the issue of poor hygiene and sanitation in school, Hifadhi Africa organization visited Mosorot primary school in East Pokot, which is one of the most affected school when it comes to poor hygiene and sanitation in the region. The sanitation issues in the schools include; lack of toilets & latrines, deteriorating facilities, poor water quality, inadequate hygiene education among others.
IMPACT
With the funds received from GlobalGiving, $449.50, we could not address all the needs of the schools in terms of hygiene and sanitation. However, we are glad that with the little we had, we managed to improve the situation of the school. With funds received, Hifadhi Africa managed to

By providing access to proper sanitation facilities and promoting good hygiene practices, we can create a cleaner and healthier learning environment that supports academic success and overall health.
