Dear Donors,
at the beginning of July, our Country Representative, Elena, with two volunteers and donors, Tamara and Basilio, visited our projects in Ghana. This experience represented a unique opportunity for our volunteers, who actively participated in the daily activities at Casa Italia, a foster home for disabled and disadvantaged children in Kwamoso, in the Akuapem district, in the south-east of Ghana. Tamara and Basilio brought moments of joy and lightness to children through play. In particular, Basilio, with his skills as an educator and musician, has organized recreational and educational activities such as art therapy and music therapy. These activities not only entertained the children but also helped to enhance their cognitive, psychomotor, socio-emotional, and multisensory skills.
New needs emerged from the monitoring trip for the children hosted at Casa Italia. To fight against social exclusion and promote integration into society, it is essential that children with disabilities can move readily. Unfortunately, many of their wheelchairs are no longer functional and require replacement. Furthermore, electricity costs have doubled at Casa Italia; for this reason, Director Simona wants to install solar panels to reduce costs and guarantee a sustainable energy source.
Thank you sincerely for your support and generosity, which makes it possible to improve our children's lives.
