Children at risk and violated rights are words that we use to refer to the problems that the children we serve come with, but today I am going to share with you a story that summarizes them clearly, because each child who comes to the Foundation brings with them one more difficulty. Many of them have a happy ending thanks to the effort we make together, you from afar with your contributions, and we fulfilling the enormous responsibility that comes from our mission: to protect, support and promote through love, the development of their abilities. for life.
Jenny* (9 years old), the youngest of five siblings, Carlos* (18), Lizeth* (17), Karen* (15) and Kevin* (14), who joined the Foundation two years ago, tell us their history:
“My brothers and I come from a very humble background, we have always lived in Ciudad Bolívar south of Bogotá, the memories I have of my mother and my father together were moments of fights, blows, a lot of shouting, the two of them worked and left us alone all the time My older brother Carlos* (18) took care of us, he took care of us a lot, but sometimes he spent the day on the street and came home strangely. My sister Lizeth* (17) cooked and worked at home, she is also a very troublemaker. I was playing with my 5-year-old brother because we weren't going to school and one day out of the blue, I don't know what happened, they took us to a house where all my 5 siblings and I stayed for a long time.
We separated, but they visited us, one day we returned with my mother, but my brother Carlos* stayed with dad who drank a lot... another day my mother got angry because my brother Kevin (14) was on the street and also with My two sisters, who are a little different; Lizeth* (17) has a very bad character and Karen (15) can hardly see, she wears thick glasses and lenses in her eyes, that sometimes makes her feel bad....... We used to fight a lot and my mom He got tired of that, he took us to ICBF, but he stayed with my 5-year-old brother, and I miss him a lot and dream of playing with him again.
One day they took us to a very nice farm with many children, called Children of the Andes Nuevo Amanecer, where to this day, although it is no longer the same farm, they love me, scold me and put up with me. When for the first time, my brother Carlos*(18) had a lot of problems, he became aggressive and rude so they took him away and never returned, just like my parents who stopped loving us, never visited us or called us again and today "Nowadays they say we are adoptable."

Conclusion: The children came to the Foundation under a protection measure due to abuse and neglect by their parents, associated with their street situation, lack of schooling, lack of attention to guaranteeing their rights to health, and assuming roles that they do not correspond to the age and life trajectory of each of the children.
Today they are children who have raised their self-esteem by feeling loved, who comply with self-care standards, express their emotions and, having been declared adoptable, will live with us in the Foundation until they can defend themselves. Lizeth* has a cognitive disability that we are treating through psychology, Karen* has lost most of her vision and could be left without it, she is being followed up by ophthalmology. Kevin* is sporty, very lively and learns quickly. Jenny*(9), who tells us her story, is a beautiful, cheerful, capricious and happy girl, who has the opportunity to be adopted by a national or foreign family.
Like this one, there are many other stories of pain that we must continue to heal and many lives that we must continue to repair; and this can only happen with your support.
