Currently, Kibuku District continues to face significant challenges related to child, early, and forced marriages, driven by poverty, limited access to education, and persistent cultural norms. School dropout rates among adolescent girls remain high, especially at the transition from primary to secondary levels, increasing their vulnerability to early marriage and teenage pregnancy. Child Early and forced marriages continue to escalate among adolescent girls in the grass root communities in Kibuku District, Uganda affecting education career and health of young people. Teenage marriage report, (2022), indicates that teenage pregnancy in Kibuku district stands at 37 percent also pointed out that girls between the age of 15 and 19 have been the most affected. The figure is higher than the national average which is at 25 percent.
The project will train community leaders on girl child supportive laws and policies, Educate and rally parents community members on 2020 revised guidelines on pregnancy prevention and management in schools, Develop and print advocacy EIC materials, identify parents with pregnant girls and child bearing mothers, Meeting parents of pregnant and child bearing girls, Empower girls with skills and support networks, Provide economic support and incentives to girls families and Enhance girls' access
The project will enhance increased retention of girls in schools, Reduced girl child school dropout rate, Increased girl child school attendance, Increased completion of primary and secondary school education, Reduced child, early and forced marriages and Increased involvement of local community structures in enforcing policies on girl child rights.
