In Kenya, most people live from hand to mouth, with 40% of the people living below the poverty line and 50% just above it. For our community, staying home makes it difficult to get necessities like soap, food, and salt. This project is acting in response to the COVID outbreak or its consequences, through raising awareness about prevention, supporting vulnerable populations during the economic stop-down. MCDC plans to support 200 households to access ,food ,shelter, education and healthcare .
Covid -19 is a global issue that will disproportionately affect the most vulnerable members of the community here in Kenya and around the world. There is need to come together and take care of our most vulnerable members of our community ,which is more pressing now than ever. For our community ,staying home makes it difficult to get necessities like soap, food, and salt for 10,000 people whom we serve .With a lot of uncertainty, we know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality.
We are acting in response to the COVID-19 outbreak or its consequences, through raising awareness about prevention, supporting vulnerable populations during the economic stop-down.Through provision of basic necessities including PPEs ,nutritious food supply , and training them in both best farming practices and small business .Trained community members will be issued with small loans to start their own businesses .The mothers are also taught to share their new knowledge with their neighbors .
The project will reach out directly to 200 households with trainings and supply of face masks , soap ,nutritious food and small loans to boost their own businesses ,allowing project beneficiaries to rise out of poverty ,which will provide their families health and wellbeing .With new found skills and resources put into their hands ,we hope the ripple effect to trickle down to about 10,000 beneficiaries indirectly who will access both shared information and resources .
