The most powerful weapon in the 21st century is knowledge. For this purpose with a group of women from our community we decided to launch a community development center as a unique powerhouse of initiatives, where the youth and women, in particular, will not only improve their skills and capacity with the help of center-provided resources, but will also be supported to fulfil their ideas ranging from IT to social enterprises. This center will bridge the community with the outside World.
Hrazdan is the 4th largest city in Armenia and though it was the industrial center of Soviet Armenia, now it has high unemployment rates. The main source of livelihood is the work abroad, which neither helps the development of the city, nor raises the quality of life, so people leave to settle elsewhere. There are no facilities in the city where children can learn crafts, young people can implement their ideas, and women can start businesses.This project will affect the most vulnerable groups.
The center will recruit various craftsmen (providing temporary employment for them) and will organize free trainings for children from needy families several times a week, providing the necessary materials. It will provide a platform for young people and women to generate their ideas by inviting experts to help them strengthen their knowledge, will share the opportunities for innovations and startups starting from project writing to implementation and report.
The project will educate at least 300 kids, yound people and women, in particuar, each quarter helping them to aquire more skills and opportunities in life, which will directly enhance their quality of life. It is expected that the targeted groupes after trainings will start up their own businesses and break the stereotypes of weak women. Another crucial point is encouraging young people to read and transit their knowledge to others.
