Challenge

The COVID-19 prevention and response measures in Uganda have negatively impacted the wellbeing of children from Vulnerable families whose caregivers depended on daily earnings from market and road stalls, driving, motorcycle cycling(bodaboda) and provision of services of waitresses in restaurants and bars. Some caregivers are HIV+,elderly and disabled. These children lack food and essential services and their life is threatened.

Solution

This project will support at least 200 children and their families with food, beddings and hygiene kit and provide psycho-social support through regular visits and updates on COVID-19. Train 50 volunteers to identify and refer vulnerable children impacted by COVID-19 for support, increase social mobilization and community engagement through radio, internet and one on one community dialogues.

Long-Term Impact

There will be increased awareness on the prevention and response measures about COVID-19 leading to increased mitigation. Life will be saved and hope restored among vulnerable children and their families
