Challenge

The lock down by the Government to save people from the COVID-19 outbreak started on March 22, 2020, shutting down all the businesses in the country.Majority of the lower class (25 % population) has already spent all their savings within this time period, which is now forcing them to go out and look for either food or work in the lockdown desperately to feed their families. This violation could be the biggest contributor to the spread of the pandemic and can put millions of lives in danger.

Solution

AWARD will reach out to the families of daily wage labourers in the semi-urban and rural areas of Punjab province to distribute food packages (Cooking oil, flour, rice, pulses, chickpeas, rice, tea, milk, sugar, spices, salt etc) and 1 Care pack (1 Hand Sanitizer, 5 face protection masks, 1 liquid anti bacterial soap, 1 washing soap, 2 tooth Brush,1 Tooth paste etc) sufficient for 15 days among these marginalized and needy families who are under severe economic crises and stress.

Long-Term Impact

1) The food packs and care packs will help people to feed their families for the next 15 days and also to prevent their families from the outbreak in the rural areas. 2) Communities would be having knowledge about the nearest equipped health facility in case of emergency. 3) The precautions will help the communities to resist against the spread of virus.
