All children deserve a safe place to live, support and opportunity to learn, and encouragement to lead ethically.
Research has shown that Community Schools is a local engagement strategy that creates and coordinates opportunities to accelerate student success. It serves as a vehicle for hyper-local decision-making that responds to the unique needs of each community.
By bringing together the relationships and assets of a neighborhood, Community Schools can efficiently and effectively utilize resources to advance the well-being of children and their families now and for future generations.
Compared to traditional formal education, non-formal education offers many benefits for human growth. The fundamental benefit of non-formal education is its adaptability to the changing requirements of individuals as well as to societal trends. It can help someone’s professional skills as well as their own personal growth. This made us decide the schools we are opening in these communities/villages need to run on non formal educational setting.
The community schools we are running in two main provinces of Pakistan i.e. Sindh and Baluchistan are running successfully 4-5 hours everyday. The total number of students enrolled to date are 30, out of which 26 are girls and 4 boys in Kohlu, Baluchistan whereas in Sindh tehre are 25 studnets enrolled to date on 80% girls and 20% boys ratio. Thier age group is 4years to 6years in Kohlu, Baluchistan and 8 to 15 years in Sindh. There is one teacher in each school and they are taught basic literacy skills along with some extra curricular activities. The goal is to promote education and literacy skills in children who do not have access to any basic education in their villages. The teachers do not have any such challenge apart from their need to increase the basic supplies of school, more books and interactive materials for children.
Community-Based Education enhances the social responsibility of the students as they dig deeper in understanding the social issue it causes. It helps them become a better citizen as they will take the responsibility to help other people and solve community problems.
