It has been wonderful to be able to talked to the director of our projects in Tigray. We now have some details of the work that has been carried on.
Providing food for internally displaced people in the camp that was assigned by local authorities meant 7568 families. The priorities for contribution were unaccompanied minors, children separated from their parents, pregnant and lactating women, girls, the elderly.
AO provided dignity kits and laundry soap to females and victims of gender based violence.
Another important contribution was economic empowerment training to vulnerable women, those with children and no earner available, women who have lost everything and still others who have been horribly violated against. The 101 selected women were trained and given seed money and half have started small businesses and the other have are just now starting.
Ao is now trying to look forward to reparation of broken schools and homes, splintered communities and bombed fields. To scale up counselling of traumatised vulnerable and marginalised civilians, to continue with economic empowerment to help the communities rebuild their lives and give them hope of a future.
Thank you for your help in this valuable work!
