"Thanks to my computer skills and knowledge in Excel I found a job in one of the local shops. I am going to work at the computer adding data and some other information in an Excel sheet. I was the only one from the candidates who knew how to work with excel": one of the old mentees said with a big smile on her face.
During these past three months we could realize 32 hours of computer classes. 28 of the mentees who had already learnt computer during the previous classes, started to practice their skills and shared their skills with their peers. Old mentees actively took part in computer classes and made sure that the new mentees will understand and practice the new knowledge.
"I showed my classmate how to navigate in the internet and find the right information. It was so cool. I felt so great:" one of the mentees said when she entered the office.
8 new mentees took part in computer classes. Most of them had computers at home and didn't know how to open even a Word document, while there were mentees who even didn't have a computer at home. They started with learning not only what computer consists of but also how to work with Word, Power-point presentation, they have learnt how to work on the computer using only Keyboard without using mouse. They also learnt how to write different symbols using the right code combinations.
"I helped my younger sister to make her portfolio for her kindergarten and my mom was amazed how I did that. I feel so proud of myself."
5 mentees have realized 15 hours of volunteer work helping the organziation with typing out some information, making spread-sheets, contact lists and typing out the evalution information. 3 mentees used thier skills back at home helping either their classmates or siblings.
2 of the mentees gave Power-Point presentations on stereotypes, discrimination and healthy living for GLOW campers organized by Peace Corps, Nor Luyce Mentoring Center for Youth and Youth Inititive Center NGOs.
"I showed my PPT about my career plan and my parents where surprised how much I have learnt during these two months and what career goals I had."
