By Mark Minneboo | Project leader Valparaiso Azul
The fist public art bienal Valparaíso Azul has been a succes from start to finish, mixing public art, ocean literacy and the BBNJ ocean treaty. We even added a wonderful bonus activity that we organised together with Peace Boat US, the University of Valparaíso and the INJUV government agency under the Ministry of Social Development and Family that designs and coordinates policies for youth aged 15 to 29.
With over 9 art works already realised and 2 on the way, more than 20 workshops, 5 presentations and tens interviews and articles in online and printed media we managed flood the corners and schools of Valparaíso with art and ocean literacy.
The first edition of our bienal has been a succes and has paved the way for a second edition in 2027 and maybe even some activities in between to keep the momentum going. Now that we have a proof of concept we are ready to colaborate and receive support to make sure that we make the project economically viable and not depend only on favors or government funding (which we fortunately got to at least cover some basic materials and pay the artists).
Feel free to reach out and discuss how we can work together!
