Dear Supporter!
Greetings from Jivdaya Charitable Trust
Summer is the hottest time of the year in India especially in Gujarat. Temperature often cross above 44 degree Celsius and scorching heat takes a toll on stray lives. During this time animals find it difficult to cope up with the water requirements of their body and they cannot exactly justify their water needs unless fed upon. Hundreds of stray animals, as well as birds, die due to the burning heat and lack of access to clean drinking water. It is sad to see several thirsty stray cows desperately drinking dirty water from gutters as they fail to find clean water to drink, which plays an important role with milk production, tissue maintenance, eye development, thermal regulation, mineral homeostasis and body pressures. Daily requirement of drinking water varies from calves to adult milking cows from 9 litres to 115 litres. There are both physical and behavioural signs that can indicate if an animal is dehydrated which include lethargy, tightening of the skin, weight loss and drying of mucous membranes and eyes.Majority of the stray cows are either found fallen on the ground or stuck on one place due to weakness or unconsciousness.Last week Jivdaya Charitable Trust rescued 10 stray cows, majority of the cases were found severe dehydration. They have been treated with fluid therapy and multivitamins.
Dear friends as we all know, we are going through a tough time due to this pandemic situation of Corona virus, everything is paused, animals especially stray and abandoned cows are having a hard time finding food and water for their survival. Our organization is trying hard to resolve the issue and try to reach out as much animals as we can. As a responsible kind we all should show some mercy toward this beautiful creature of nature and should take little steps to save this speechless in this summer.
