Imagine you're a 5-year-old child. You're a little human who depends on your parents and family for everything. One day you catch the stomach flu, a nasty case. You're throwing up, you can't keep any food down, you have diarrhea, and your stomach feels like someone is tieing it in knots. You're alone and in pain and scared of what will happen to you next.
Like this many cruel owners abandoned the calves when they get injured or diseased. The calves are finding them helpless and succumbed to death due to a lack of food, water, and care. Severe dehydration is one of the most important factors in increasing mortality associated with diarrhea in calves. Dehydration, loss of electrolytes is the biggest problems with scouring calves found in Ahmedabad due to the unpredictable weather change and rapid urbanization, animals especially the abandoned cows and calves find it difficult to cope up and stuck in one place.
‘Chandi’ is a beautiful young female calf was found all alone in pretty bad shape. She was severely dehydrated, weak, and bloated. She had liquid diarrhea and wasn't interested in food or drinking because she was in so much pain. We brought her in and immediately set her up on IV fluids, and to our surprise, the next morning she was up walking around! She was introducing herself to all of her new friends. ‘Chandi’ is still a bit weak and lethargic, but in just one day her stool has improved. We hope she feels comforted and safe with us while she recovers.
Dear Friends, we have been able to save many others like Chandi with your kind support, but there are many left who are suffering every day. We need to reach them too. Please share our story with your friends & family, so they can also join their hands. Together we will be able to save more and more lives and make a better future for our next generation.
Remember, we can only have a better life when every living being gets a chance to survive.
