Calf rescued & treated with 24 lbs plastic in her stomach:
A female calf was admitted to Jivdaya Charitable Trust with a history of generalized papilloma and weakness. During her treatment for papilloma, she suddenly developed a bloated abdomen and was lying in lateral recumbency. Doctors decided to perform a rumenotomy to relieve the bloat. Shockingly, our team found 24 lbs of plastic in her rumen. Fortunately, she recovered completely after the surgery. Our team not only saved her life but provided all the necessary post-surgery care to the cow so she can have a pain-free life.
This incident highlights a significant issue in Gujarat: stray cows consuming waste from public garbage disposal bins, often ingesting food wrapped in plastic out of hunger. To address this problem, we must provide these poor cows with proper shelter, clean water, and adequate food to ensure their well-being and prevent such distressing situations.
