Ahmedabad is a busy and crowded city, where the number of vehicles is increasing every day. With growing traffic, road accidents have sadly become a common problem—not only for people, but also for the many stray and abandoned animals who struggle to survive on the streets.
Among the most vulnerable are cows and calves. Many are abandoned by their owners when they can no longer produce milk, or when a male calf is born and considered “unprofitable.” Left without proper care, food, or shelter, these gentle animals wander through residential areas and busy roads in search of food and water. In this unsafe environment, they often become victims of road accidents, neglect, or cruelty.
Jivdaya Charitable Trust received one such abandoned calf who was in severe pain and unable to walk properly. The calf had suffered a fracture in his hind leg. He was also extremely weak, dehydrated, and malnourished, showing how long he had struggled alone before help arrived.
Our veterinary team immediately began treatment. The injured leg was carefully examined and supported with a well-padded wooden splint bandage to keep the bone stable and help it heal correctly. The calf was also given pain relief, antibiotics to prevent infection, proper nutrition, fluids, and continuous care.
With regular monitoring, bandage adjustments, and compassionate handling, the calf slowly began to recover. Day by day, he became stronger, started bearing weight on his injured leg, and gradually regained his health.
Today, this calf has been shifted to a safe forever home, where he will no longer be hungry, neglected, or forced to survive on dangerous streets. He will receive the care, food, and protection every living being deserves.
