Dear Friends,
As the beautiful blossoms of spring color the Jerusalem landscape, the people of the city are once again unable to enjoy them. We write to you from a Zoo that has been closed to visitors due to the current wartime situation.
While our dedicated staff continue to provide the highest level of care for our animals, the circumstances remain deeply challenging. Unlike many institutions, the Zoo cannot simply close its doors and suspend operations. The animals in our care depend on us every day, and essential needs - such as food, veterinary treatment, and ongoing maintenance - must continue without interruption. At the same time, the loss of visitor income has created a significant financial strain.
Regrettably, we have been forced to postpone the opening of our new exhibit, originally planned for early March. At present, the opening is delayed until conditions allow for a safe and appropriate celebration. We are hopeful that it will be possible to hold an opening ceremony in May, and we will, of course, keep you informed.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of this important project.
