This project will construct a Youth Agriculture and Vocational Training Centre to train 100 youth per-year in tailoring, building, weaving, carpentry and agriculture. The training integrate computer , life-coping and soft or work skills training.
84.7% of the total population (181,301) in Zaka District live under poverty line as compared to province average of 63.7% (ZIMSTAT, 2018) and youth are among the poorest of the poor. Poverty among the youth emanates from unemployment which is more than 90%. Youth adopted robbery, drug abuse and prostitution as adaptation strategies. These behaviors exposed youth to HIV which is 12.6% among youth between 15-24 years in Zaka District.
The project shall construct and equip a Centre to train youth aged 15-30 years in tailoring, building, agriculture, carpentry and weaving. They shall also receive computer and soft skills training (CV, cover letter and interview preparation) After training, they will form small enterprises as individuals or cooperation, linked to micro-finance institutions and produce products for sale. Life-coping skills shall be integrated to improve sexual reproductive health and rights prospects of youth.
The project will train 100 youth per yer in vocational and entrepreneurship skills which will build their economic resilience, raise them out of poverty and make informed Sexual reproductive health and rights choices.
