Project Report | Sep 4, 2025
Dani's Story at Sovenia

By Maria Russo | President

This report is dedicated to the memory of my son Daniel, who was autistic and died eight years ago. His light still guides my path, and it is the reason why I continue to work at Venzuelan Society for Autistic Children and Adults.

Dani arrived in Sovenia in 1986, when he was 18 months old, along with us his parents that had never heard speak about Autism, and searching for answerts to make his life better. At our center I found professionals who had been in the field for some years, that were very generous when it came to open our eyes to the tough reality that has no cure, but many possibilities for the person to reach his highest potential. It was this that Daniel, autistic level 3 with epilepsy and hiperactivity and a partial brain damage could achieve. He never talked although he could understand a lot and communicate his needs, and learned some daily life abilities. He was loved, he was always with me at the center, like it was his own home. He was sweet and quiet, and liked to eat, play his toy keyboard, his transparent red ball, and Elmo's videos.

Thanks to his inspiration, to the donations we have received from you,  and the dedicaton of our team at the Venezuelan Society for Autistic Children, you have made possible for us to donate eleven (11) consultations to children, adolescents and adults who also face the challenges of autism. For this occasion we share a special foto of Dani, as a symbol of hope, resilience and love.

During this period, our actions have been centered in providing emotional accompaniment, educational counseling and therepeutic support to those families. Each story is a testimonial of the struggle and how they overcome challenges. We are honored to be part of their journey

We keep our committment to our mission of creating a more inclusive and empathetic community. Thanks for believing in our work and for allowing us to keep transforming lives.
