As the children in Haiti are resuming school amid the Covid-19, the most pressing action for the organisation "LIGHT" is secure them against a potential spread of the virus through our existing medical platform. This project aims at building the capacity of teachers and students on preventive measures to adopt against the virus and Implementing in schools a warning system for suspicious cases through our app. phone called, Virtual Medical Assistance Center (VMAC).
The outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been declared a "public health emergency of international concern" (USPPI), and the virus now affects many countries and territories. While COVID-19 is primarily a public health problem, its impact on education is already visible, primarily as a result of the prolonged closure of schools. As schools are opening now in Haiti with hundreds of thousands of students exposed to the virus, it is the right time to intervene and thwart its progress.
As a preventive measure the organisation will conduct the followings and more to turn the school environment into safe haven for the students: 1-Build the capacity of teachers and students on preventive measures to adopt against VIDOC-19. 2. Implementation of an early warning system for suspicious cases thanks to the mobile application (VMAC). 3. Establishment of a referral system for serious cases in our clinic. 4.Plan mass awareness campaigns on COVID19 at the community level.
The long-term impact will be on the 5 Jacmel's communal sections impacting 50 schools, with 10 schools by communal section. A committee will be set up in each communal section to respond to the needs of the neighborhood, 50 school Directors will be trained on the covid19, thousands of students will be trained on the Covid19, more than 500 hygiene kits will be distributed to the students, and a covid19 medical package will be provided to each school (hnd santizer, liqu. soap, bucket, masks).
