It appeared like Thailand had won the battle against COVID. Unfortunately, the number of cases is rising rapidly, and Thailand is heading towards yet another lockdown. The people who are being hit the hardest? The poor, the people who were already vulnerable. We still stand with them during these difficult times.
Let us introduce you to the Thamin family. They came from Laos but moved to Thailand over a decade ago, hoping for a better life. The family has always had a hard time financially because they are not Thai and therefore have fewer rights. They aren't entitled to government support, education is more expensive for them, and it is harder to find work. Perhaps their move to Thailand didn't turn out to be as good as they hoped it would.
Many people lost jobs
Now that COVID is causing many problems for Thailand, the situation of the Thamin family has worsened. There is a lot of unemployment and it is difficult to get an income now. Many people have lost their jobs, and so more people are looking for work. Both mother and father Thamin family work as day laborers. But the need for day laborers has decreased and there are many more people looking for work now. The situation is so bad, that they decided to withdraw their 16-year-old son from school and let him work as well. They simply need more financial means to survive.
We cannot do it alone
We keep on reaching out to families in need, such as the Thamin family. We look after more than 200 families, and we need your help with that. We have the knowledge, the staff and the time to change lifes. You may have the financial means to support us. We cannot continue without the help of people like you. Thank you for impacting lives with us!
