NAMASTE!

The COVID 19 pandemic caught us all unawares!
In Nepal millions more fell into poverty because of the pandemic induces recession. People lost jobs and worse they lost their loved ones, families and friends. People struggled for survival. People were living on less than 2$ daily. These people became even more vulnerable.

These people find themselves on the lowest rung of the social ladder with out any support of social net and always prawn to the worst forms of exploitation and abuse. Despiar is driving many of them to commit suicide. This is a shocking and sad reality during this pandemic.

People literally had to live from the hand to mouth. This became very complicated and unbearable. We had to take yet another inititives post the devastative earthquake! BAHINI EDUCARE FOUNDATION stepped up and increased the support to the most vulnerable.

Donations came from many generous souls and We also received a generous grant from GLOBAL GIVING. With these, we are able to prevent "FOOD - INSECUITY, the most paintful sting that poverty can inject! We also provided indispensible items for hygiene healthcare and prevention of infections!

Until the day we provided over 5000 beneficiaries with
a) RICE b) LENTILS c) SALT d) SUGAR e) COOKING OIL f) GRAMS g) SOYABEANS h) BISCUITS i) SOAPS j) SANITARY PADS k) MASKS l) SANITIZERS

This could not have been possible with out your generosity and kindess. Today Nepal has re-opned with fragility and people are still vulnerable. However they are back to work and to normal ways of survival.

There, however remains some despiar owing to the new variant but Life has to go on.

We have therefore decided to stop this fundraiser for now. The Project closes from now with BIG GRATITUDE to all noble souls.

COVID Relief Action: Prevention of Food Insecurity

Current Situation in Nepal:
In Nepal millions more fell into poverty in the year 2020/2021 because of the pandemic induced economic recession. Poor people are living on $ 2,- or less daily and they are literally living from the hand to the mouth! For many, a day without work, means a day without food!

Hunger is the most poisoned sting that poverty can inflict on human beings and it is the root cause of for unbearable suffering. It entails an increasing number of suicides, rape, child-marriage, prostitution, desperation and anguish for many of the twelve million of the poor people in Nepal.

OUR APPROACH:
During these difficult/challenging times “Bahini-Educare-Foundation” stepped up and increased their support for the most vulnerable”.

In addition to the regular support we are providing for destitute single mothers with dependent children we were able to extend our help for 800 more people who are in desperate need for help.

Hand in hand with the local authorities and the leaders in the communities we distributed staple-food to the most vulnerable groups including HIV/Aids affected people and disabled people.

We distributed rice and pulses which will prevent hunger for these people for one month. In addition we provided the most fundamental items for Covid-protection, namely masks and antiseptic soap.

For these people our help is making all the difference and it is giving them hope in the darkest hours of their lives.

With the donations we received through GlobalGiving and other donors and benefactors we were able to distribute the following goods for a total of 215 families.

Each family received:
Rice 25 kgs
Lentils 2 kgs
Soaps ( 2 bathing/ 2 washing)
Masks (15 pcs)

The poor people in Nepal are very resilient and they are able to cope as long as they have enough food for survival and it is our declared objective to help as many as we can in this efficient and direct way!

COVID 19 Relief Action in Nepal

In Nepal millions more fell into poverty in the year 2020/2021 because of the pandemic induced economic recession. Poor people are living on $ 2,- or less daily! Our target groups, Widows/single Mothers/Grandmother’s with dependent children are day laborers and they live literally from the hand to the mouth. “No work is synonymous to no food”!

These women and their children find themselves on the lowest rung of the social ladder without any support or social net and always prawn to worst forms of exploitation and abuse. Despair is driving many of them to commit suicide; this is a shocking and sad reality during this terrible pandemic!

Trafficking of girls and young women into the sex-trade too has increased considerably during these times and as an organization that has as the main objective “the prevention of worst forms of violence and abuse”, this is an appalling effect of the new, Covid-19 induced poverty!

During these difficult/challenging times “Bahini-Educare-Foundation” stepped up and increased their support for the most vulnerable”.

For many we were able to prevent food-insecurity, the most painful sting that poverty can inject! Moreover we provided indispensible items for hygiene, healthcare and prevention of infections.

In the past 3 months Bahini Educare Foundation has supported around 75 families that are belonging to our target groups with the following supplies:

Each family received:

a) Rice 25 kgs

b) Lentils 2 kgs

c) Salt 1 kg

d) Sugar 1 kg

e) Cooking oil 2 litres

f) Grams 2 kgs

g) Soyabean 2 kgs

h) Spices 500 gms

i) Biscuits 2 dozen

j) Soaps ( 2 bathing/ 2 washing)

Along with this, our nurse is providing Covid-19 awareness’ and safety lessons for the mother and the children with instructions for proper hygiene and the prevention of the infection with the virus.

In the times to come we will face an uphill battle! But we have the determination and we are inspired to up the ante and with your HELP we can do!

No one is more worthy of our support and for our beneficiaries this is making all the difference. The hopeless find hope again and they are encouraged to continue their battle for survival.
