Life with COVID in Nepal now

Nepal, similarly to other developing countries, has been hugely impacted by coronavirus. Some of our staff have suffered from it and many have lost family members and friends to the virus. Luckily, none of our children got infected due to very strict measures that we had implemented. That meant however, no school for a long time for the children and no socialising with their friends. We had a mixture of online classes and teachers coming to our centres to provide classes outside.

Our boys in Birgunj got their first dose of the vaccination a couple of weeks ago and with schools reopening in the area now, it means that they will soon be able to join their friends at their school. Second vaccination will be given to them in the next few weeks.

We have decided to pause our fundraising for the COVID affected families for now and focus on expanding our educational parts of the projects to ensure that all the children manage to catch up with all that they might have missed. We will also try and raise more funds for skills training, work experience placements and extra classes for our boys and girls. We will be observing the COVID situation closely and we will try and react to any changes quickly. We will keep you all up to date.

We are very happy though that together with our partners we managed to help nearly 15,000 people who had no access to food or other facilities during the very tough lockdowns in Nepal. All this has been possible only thanks to you. So thank you again for all the support!
