The World Health Organization may have declared the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, but the impacts of the virus continue to ripple throughout our lives. Although this road has not been easy, we are grateful for the remarkable global solidarity and actions taken to mitigate the virus.

Here's a glimpse into how our nonprofit partners are navigating this ongoing crisis in their communities:

  • Camp for Peace Liberia fought COVID-19 by breaking through barriers of misconceptions. Through a series of awareness campaigns across 12 communities, the nonprofit promoted regular handwashing, proper mask usage, and safe food handling to stop the spread of all viruses. These initiatives were woven into existing health and community projects to ensure the sustainability of these efforts through partnerships with local authorities.
  •  Fundación Barco’s Escala was determined to keep kids in school during the COVID-19 pandemic. Located in El Águila, Valle del Cauca, the nonprofit fosters career exploration and personal development by helping students visualize and achieve their aspirations. This targeted support empowers students,  involves families, and trains educators to strengthen the fabric of the entire community.
  • The Wayuu Taya Foundation took significant actions to support Indigenous communities disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The nonprofit addressed food insecurity, lack of clean water, and inadequate healthcare. Over the past four years, the foundation has distributed over 1.17 million liters of clean water and provided nearly 630,000 meals in Venezuela. They also focused on enhancing hygiene practices by installing portable handwashing stations and distributing hygiene kits to over 109,000 people.
  • Seva Mandir has been instrumental in supporting the recovery of southern Rajasthan's rural communities that were hard hit by COVID-19’s economic and physical toll. By providing agricultural and livelihood training, developing water resources, and conducting awareness campaigns around vaccine safety, Seva Mandir is empowering communities toward sustainable recovery and resilience.
  • The Women’s Employment Network (WEN) in Kansas City has helped women struggling with COVID-related barriers like the loss of child care and disproportionate job losses.  Using their established method, they help women establish where they are, where they want to go, and what they need to do to get there.

Your support of the GlobalGiving Coronavirus Relief Fund powers community-led responses like these. Thank you for your immense generosity.

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
