SHAKHI 'Friends of Women' is a grassroots feminist organization working with marginalized women. Pregnant women and newborn children get nutrition food, medicines, and essential supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your donation to this fund will support immediate and long-term relief and recovery in vulnerable communities especially pregnant mothers and newborn children during one of the most challenging times we are collectively facing.
Bara and Parsa's district is currently on lockdown due to the increased risk of COVID-19. This crisis threatens everyone's way of life, but it is especially difficult for marginalized women and girls who are pregnant or who have just given new birth of baby. Local governments aren't being able to treat them as special packages because large communities are facing the crisis and they are focusing them on food and other essential services. And those women aren't facing the gap of any support.
Your donation to this fund will help that marginalized pregnant women and newborn children who aren't counting by local governments to provide them nutritious food and essentials medicine and supplies. If essential costs are supported, we can continue to ensure that those marginalized pregnant women and newborn children receive excellent care and good nutrition. in addition, they can also get safety kit as soap, sanitizer to prevent from COVID-19.
We believe that organizations that are deeply rooted in local communities are best positioned to lead long-term plans to respond in COVID-19. The current situation is likely to last several months. Even if the curfew breaks, we will continue to be on lockdown until we can be assured of the well-being of the children and women.
