Dear Friend and supporter,
I hope you are in good health and keeping safe,
Covid-19 affected all of us across the globe in some ways and Les Enfants de Dieu(EDD) in partnership with GlobalGiving would sincerely like to update you about the progress we have been making together in supporting the most affected people during global pandemic especially in time of lockdown and after quarantine where people completely lose their source of daily bread.
We, EDD family would like to wholeheartedly thank you for standing alongside us in most significant challenges that have affected all of us, thus far for our “COVID-19 APPEAL - Help Feed our Community’’ as you have made donations, and shared with your friends and family. We are so grateful for your support; you have been really making a difference to the lives of the most affected in our community namely EDD alumni, former staff and community people.
Kindly, be posted on what we have accomplished so far:
With your support in early September2021,We EDD were able to purchase rice, maize flour, cooking oil ,dry beans and washing soaps as food and hygiene items which we distributed to 122 people.
On 4th September, we provided food items such as maize flour, dry beans, cooking oil, as well as rice and washing soaps to 18 families of EDD former staff who are equivalent to 15 %
We also provided food items namely maize flour, rice, dry beans, cooking oil and washing soaps to 52 families from EDD community of alumni’s families who are equivalent to 42.6%
On 18th September, We also went to distribute food items to most affected families from one of Ndera local community people whom we identified through local community leader and we were able to distribute maize flour, rice, beans cooking oil and washing soap to 52 families equivalent 42.6%
Our beneficiaries indeed were all expressing their gratitude as they were surprised by the fact that somebody could stand alongside them in the most significant challenging time.
Below is the story of Felicien, he is one of our Alumni
In his own words, he expressed his gratitude for the support he received,
‘’I am Felicien, one of the EDD alumni, I have a wife with two children my first born is 5 years old and the last one is nearly 1 year old, before covid-19 pandemic came, I used to carry people as well as their luggage on my bicycle and in that I was able to earn daily bread for my lovely family.
‘’Things surprisingly changed, when Covid-19 broke out….
as far as I can remember, the first person to be positive with covid-19 was found in our country around early March 2020, since then life changed radically as we all were required to stay home, only very few people who worked to provide essential services were allowed to move, so personally, it was very significant challenge to put a daily bread on table my family as I was no longer allowed to ride my bicycle because my clients and I were in consecutive lockdowns without any shadow of what would be next!
It was amazing to get news regarding food support from EDD as one of my friend whom we previously lived together in EDD got news before me and informed me, then I did not hesitate to call to EDD and I was glad to receive confirmation from Mr. Charles the Executive Director of EDD, therefore I came to EDD and received food items and went to feed my family.
It is so encouraging to have somebody who think about us and all I can say is thank you for having us in your thoughts, may God bless you abundantly!
Thank you once again!
