COVID-19 has afflicted the entire globe. Yet residents living in the most vulnerable and under-served communities are feeling the pinch of hardship even more. This community relief program seeks to provide food supplies, PPEs, community sensitization programmes and weekly literacy activities designed to engage learners who otherwise would not have access to educational material due to their financial situation. This community relief will benefit under-served communities in Accra and Kumasi.
Preventive measures instituted by government in response to COVID-19 have left many communities in Ghana especially in Accra and Kumasi highly vulnerable. Limited resources and language barriers pose a significant threat to the effectiveness COVID-19 community sensitisation measures in poor and underserved communities. Poor dissemination of information, inadequate access to PPE's and to educational materials for children are all issues that compound to increase the risks of COVID - 19.
1. Community Sensitisation (in local languages) - ensuring residents are well informed on COVID-19 protective measures. 2. Childhood literacy - We will ensure pupils at home are engaged academically with adequate reading materials. 3. Donation of personal protective equipment (PPE) - we will provide protective gear to households, and community clinics including: soaps, face masks and hand sanitizer. 4. Donation of food supplies
This project will educate 1,000 children during the school lockdown period ensuring transition back into school is made easier. Providing much needed relief in the search for income opportunities this project will provide food supplies to over 1,000 individuals to last a minimum of two weeks.
