Jabala Action Research Organisation intends to support the adolescent girls and their families as they respond to and recover from the Covid-19 crisis. As the situation on the ground is changing rapidly, we are seeking support to carry on relief operations ( Dry ration, OTC drugs, Community Kit, Health Kits) among the 1000beneficiaries in the selected areas of West Bengal & Jharkhand with a primary goal to ensure the adolescent and young women are not adversely affected by this pandemic
Despair is growing among families as they find it difficult to meet ends without work and hunger is deep set due the present Covid-19 crisis. Movement restrictions and multiple barriers (language, technology, inadequate govt. support etc.) have exacerbated the isolation of vulnerable groups (victims, adolescents), by decreasing opportunities to access social security systems & institutional supports & increased vulnerability to trafficking & child marriages.
Jabala with the support base of community volunteers through shall carry out the relief operations and distribute Dry ration ( Pulses, Flour, Oil, Potato, Puffed Rice, Sugar, Salt, Spices, Soybean etc.) and Health Kits (Soap, Detergent, Masks, Sanitary Napkin etc.). In addition support on tracing symptomatic cases and reporting to authorities, vaccination registration support , OTC ( Over the Counter) drugs will be done.
Families getting immediate relief can get some confidence and look for alternative livelihood. The possible reduction in Gender Based Violence which is most common feature during pandemic as observed earlier
