Poverty, displacement, occupation, and siege magnify the impact of the coronavirus a thousand times. We are responding to requests from community organizations to help protect children and families in Palestine and refugees in Lebanon by providing medical aid, personal hygiene and cleaning kits, food parcels, and more.
Communities in Palestine and Lebanon are struggling to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The health sector in Palestine has been decimated by decades of Israeli occupation, overcrowding in refugee camps make social distancing impossible, and with lockdowns in place to stop the spread of COVID-19 many of families have no income.
MECA is working with community organizations all over Palestine and in the refugee camps in Lebanon to meet the needs of children and families. MECA's partners and staff are working day and night, bringing teams of health workers and volunteers together to provide: Hygiene kits with soap, disinfectants, and hand sanitizer Accurate and clear virus prevention information Food parcels for the most vulnerable families Medicine and care for people with urgent or chronic conditions
This is an emergency project and the long-term goal is to help families and communities survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
