VIDA Ships Two Containers of Lifesaving Aid
By Adam See | Director
2024 has been a busy year as we have moved from the emergency phase to our long term mission to rebuild the healthcare infrastructure of select communities of Peru,
Basic medical equipment, such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, gurneys, crash carts, as well as basic medical supplies from bandages to syringes and surgical supplies remain in great demand. Hospitals throughout the San Francisco Bay area have been very generous in providing Vida with such medical equipment and medical supplies.
The Covid pandemic exposed the terrible infrastructure of the Peruvian healthcare system. It is for this very reason that we continue to help those medical providers operating in Peru, to deliver humane and dignified care to the most vulnerable citizens of the country.
We thank the GlobalGiving community for helping us carry out our mission to alleviate the suffering of our fellow human beings. It is because of your continued generosity that enables Vida to carry out this important mission by helping to assist in covering the shipping costs. Our most recent shipments carried nearly $500,000 in aid.

Finishing 2023 Strong!
By Adam See | Executive Director
Peru is still facing multiple challenges in overcoming the devastating COVID pandemic. Political chaos, social unrest, economic challenges, and flooding in March have magnified the COVID hangover. As always, it is the poor who are impacted the greatest. In addition to the loss of life and housing, the already impoverished regions has lost critical infrastructure. Households, health facilities and educational institutions sitting in the floods path will take years to rebuild.
As always, VIDA is committed to responding to the long-term challenges and will remain on the ground for the long haul. VIDA is focusing on sending critical medical supplies and equipment to address immediate issues as well as helping to rebuild the healthcare infrastructure.
VIDA has staged three containers ready for shipment to Peru. As always, the cost of shipment remains an enormous challenge. VIDA counts on the generous support of others, including the GlobalGiving community to make our mission possible. We ask you today to join us by contributing to the costs of shipping this life saving aid to Peru.

Peru Still Suffering From Flood Aftermath
By Adam See | Executive Director
The 2023 rainy season in Peru has been devastating. In early March, the warming of the ocean located off the coast of Peru signaled a strong El Nino. The government declared a state of emergency as the warming of the ocean causes an increase in rainfall in the Andes. The northern regions of Tumbes, Lambayeque, and Piura were the most damaged. The floods, river overflows and landslides have left over 300,000 people in need emergency help.
As always, in addition to the loss of life and housing, the already impoverished regions has lost critical infrastructure. Hundreds of thousands of households and hundreds of health facilities have been destroyed by the floods. VIDA is focusing on sending critical medical supplies and equipment to address immediate issues as well as helping to rebuild the healthcare infrastructure.
