From struggle to success

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear Friend,

We hope all is well with you as we present our most current report on After Care Support. We hope you enjoy reading about our young inspirers!

Caring is one of our organization's key values; we care for those no one else does. As a result, we endeavour to provide the best aftercare services possible to enable children to take ownership of their own skills. Aftercare adolescents have enormous potential, and we must help them to become strong and self-sufficient people who enjoy a better life with dignity and contribute to society. We always offer quality care for our children, who live in modest houses known as El Shaddai Cottages.

Here is the story of Sitara (name changed), a young girl originally from Maharashtra, who became a part of the El Shaddai family when she was 10 years old.

Her father had left the family; he was a waste collector. Her mother supported herself by selling fish. After the father abandoned the family, the mother was left to care for the three children alone, with no one to assist her. The mother's income was insufficient to give her children enough food, clothes, and education. To avoid further suffering she came to us for help and requested us to admit her daughter into our care where she was quickly admitted to one of our children's homes and welcomed into a loving environment which offered her comfort, companionship, nourishing food, education and the possibility of a secure future. She has a brother and a sister who are also under our care.

Recently, she completed her higher secondary school education in Arts and is currently being guided by us to pursue a career in Hotel Management, by interning at a hotel in Goa, where she will gain hands-on work experience as well as be encouraged to continue her further studies through correspondence learning.

Children like this girl act as a beacon of inspiration for all those who have been through an unsteady childhood!

Many such children are grateful for the opportunities they receive to renew their lives. By sponsoring our work, you demonstrate your commitment towards social responsibility and therefore, we can make a difference in the lives of many children with your help. We greatly appreciate your support and the trust you have placed in our organization and the work that we undertake.

Sincerely,

El Shaddai family
