Transforming lives through aftercare support

Dear Friend,

Greetings from El Shaddai and we bring to you our latest report on After Care support.

Support for orphan children doesn't end when they leave the care of orphanages or foster homes. Aftercare support is crucial for the children’s successful transition into independent living. El Shaddai has been in existence for 26 years and in these years we have seen beautiful transformations of children which bring extreme delight to our hearts.

To date, we have reached out to 656,452 children. Many of our children are working with us in our schools, offices, shelters and community centres. Some are working in leading hotels and reputed banks. We have a beautiful transformation story of a girl named Maya(name changed). Her story is an inspirational one. She transformed into a more stable and fulfilling life which is a powerful testament to resilience and determination.

She lived in a slum on the outskirts of the city of Goa. She and her mother along with her sibling used to sell toys on the streets to make ends meet. Her father was a scrap collector and passed away due to a sudden illness. Within a year her mother too passed away. The poor girls were left all alone without any food, money, shelter or security.

A kind-hearted lady who had heard about El Shaddai decided to bring these girls to our home. Here they found love, warmth, care and comfort. They received education at our school and today she is studying for her final year (Bachelor in Business Administration) while the little sister is actively taking part in sports competitions at the state level.

We have been able to provide long-term, consistent support for these children with your continuous love and support and we truly appreciate your dedication to this noble cause. We ensure that the children in our care grow and develop in confidence over time and have a chance for a better and brighter future.

Supporting our children extends beyond their time in our care, and it plays a crucial role in helping them transition into independent living successfully.

We have many such stories which demonstrate that with determination, support, and access to opportunities, children living in poor conditions can transform their lives and create a better future for themselves and their families.

We express our deepest gratitude for your generous donations in making these children’s dreams come true and give hope and courage to face the world.

Building a lasting bond

Dear Patron,

Warm greetings to you as we bring our latest report on After Care Support.

We at El Shaddai stand firm on our statement “A child of El Shaddai will always be a child of El Shaddai”.

These Aftercare youth, are amongst the most vulnerable sections of the youth population, but they have immense potential and we need to support them so that they become resilient and independent citizens, who not only live a better life with dignity but also give back to society. We always ensure quality care for our children, who are provided care and protection in our small homes, called El Shaddai Cottages. Since the beginning, we have continued to support them even after they turn 18. Many of our children are presently studying in higher secondary schools, colleges, other institutions and are working in esteemed hotels.

Some of our children are working at the El Shaddai office and school as teachers, in the admin and graphic departments. When asked how they feel about what they achieved, they answer with a smile on their face. “We are very happy and we want to give back what we received”.

We bring to you a story of a child named Zara (named changed).

She is currently living in one of our cottages. Her story is a remarkable and inspiring one. She was found abandoned in a train heading to Goa. Her actual whereabouts are not known. We think her family may have migrated to Goa in search of employment. It is unsure whether she was left in the train by her parents on purpose while they were travelling or she was lost. Finding this little girl all alone in a train compartment a kind-hearted train passenger took her to the Railway inspector. As there was no one to claim the child, The Konkan Railway police handed over this little child to one of our fieldworkers who immediately brought her to our Home. We admitted her in one of our children's home. She was provided comfort, companionship, nourishing food, education and hope for a beautiful future.

She felt very safe and happy here. She was very keen on studying and learning new things. She finished her 12^th Grade and is now working at one of the renowned hotels in the country. Through her hard work and perseverance she was able to achieve her dreams and with this, we can rightly say that the destination of her train journey which she started was meant to arrive at El Shaddai.

There are many such children whose lives changed for the better and all this would not be possible without the help of generous and kind-hearted people like you who share the same mission in aiding us to transform children’s lives.

Caring to bring a change

After care children

Dear Patrons,

We hope all is well with you, as we bring you our recent report on After Care Support. We hope that you will enjoy reading about our Young achievers.

They say “The key to success is hard work and determination”, and our children have yet again proved it true. No matter what their struggles in life have been, through the anchor of El Shaddai and your wonderful support, these children are progressing towards achieving their dreams and goals.

In this journey of El Shaddai, we have many children who are now adults and are currently pursuing their dreams. Many are working in Hotels, Banks, and Offices, Some are enrolled in colleges and other institutions, whereas others are working in our charitable trust as teachers, Office assistants and graphic designers.

The results of the children studying in higher secondary schools and colleges have been declared and we are proud to say that they have all done brilliantly well.

This year 2023 we had twenty-six children who answered their secondary examinations and we are happy to announce that 10 of these children were selected by Taj Resort and Convention Centre at Panjim Goa.

While pursuing their secondary education they were invited for a tour to the Taj Convention Centre at Panjim Goa. They were warmly welcomed by the Taj team and escorted to various departments. We still remember the joy on their faces when they returned home after their wonderful tour.

The children were truly excited to be selected and given this esteemed opportunity to work in this new venture for one of the best leading 5-star hotels situated in Panjim Goa. The 6 boys and 4 girls are presently working in the Food and Beverage Service (F & B) Department.

It is a proud moment for us all to see our children doing fabulously well.

We wish these children a bright and beautiful future as they are stepping into new chapters of their lives and also take the role of a changemaker. With the Aid of this project, we will be able to reach out to more and more children and ensure that everlasting care and support will always remain thus creating - a lasting bond.
