Unconditional love lasts Forever

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear donor,

“Be an everlasting change”

After reaching 18 years, many children in Child Care Institutes must leave and often fall off the radar. This lack of visibility in aftercare is an area of concern in India and there are yawning gaps in the ‘Aftercare' service of these Care Leavers, many of whom are orphans. They face heightened challenges and poorer outcomes on the journey to independence.

Aftercare is a profound and rewarding journey filled with joy, challenges, and responsibilities. This journey often involves unique circumstances that require extraordinary love, patience, and understanding.

Aftercare marks a significant transition in the lives of children who have endured an uncertain and often tumultuous journey in their past. In this phase, children grapple with complex emotions and challenges as they embark on their path toward independence and adulthood.

At El Shaddai, we have an aftercare program for children attaining eighteen years of age, providing for their education, employing them in skills and placement, and places for stay to facilitate their reintegration into the mainstream.

Our children from the aftercare programme attend Higher Secondary Schools, and colleges, work at Hotels, and dance academies and are even employed in our El Shaddai Schools as teachers. It truly gives us great happiness to see our children growing so beautifully into young adults.

We are happy to narrate a lovely story of one of our child from our Girl's Home.

Malti (name changed) came to our home with her sister at the age of 4, due to her parent’s poor economic background. She did her schooling in our Shanti Niketan school and went for higher studies through correspondence. During her academics, she was very passionate about dancing. She never missed a single competition or a dance programme. Whenever she danced one could see the joy on her face. When we saw how passionate she was, we decided to enrol her in one of the leading dance academy at Goa, India. Her joy knew no bounds and her dancing talent was recognized by her teacher who instantly offered her the role of a dance teacher. Now she could study part-time and dance the other half. She is super thrilled and thankful for the love and support provided by El Shaddai.

We wish to help more and more children to fulfil their dreams and live their lives to the fullest. We have been able to achieve all this only because of your generous help and support through your kind donations. We are eternally grateful for aiding in our mission of a happy and successful After Care Programme.
